Before You Begin: A Message to Every Parent
This kit was created because no parent should have to become a legal researcher, educational specialist, records manager, and investigator simply to understand what is happening in their child's education.
It is designed to help you organize information, preserve important documents, understand educational processes, prepare informed questions, and participate more effectively in decisions affecting your child.
But there is an important distinction.
Being organized does not mean a school has violated the law. Having a concern does not make that concern a proven fact. And having documentation does not automatically establish what occurred or whether a legal obligation was met.
The purpose of this kit is to help you distinguish what the records actually establish from what still needs to be answered.
We believe parents deserve information they can understand, records they can trust, and tools that help them advocate responsibly.
The disclosures below explain what this kit does, what it cannot do, and how to protect yourself and your child's information while using it.
1. Who Created This Kit
The Education Vault kits are developed and sold by Sprinklin' Light Worldwide LLC, an Indiana company.
The project is informed by founder Jamey Richter's personal experience with dyslexia, his work as a clinician and tutor, and his experience navigating his own child's educational journey.
These experiences helped shape the kit's approach to documentation, parental advocacy, learning differences, and educational accountability.
However, the founder's experience does not make the kit a substitute for professional legal, medical, psychological, or educational services.

2. What This Kit Is, and What It Is Not
This kit provides general educational information and practical tools for:
- Organizing evaluations, IEPs, accommodations, progress reports, and related educational records.
- Documenting meetings, communications, requests, and responses.
- Tracking educational goals, commitments, and important dates.
- Identifying missing documentation or unanswered questions.
- Preparing for conversations with teachers, schools, educational agencies, and qualified professionals.
- Developing an organized record of your child's educational journey.
This kit is not legal representation, a professional educational evaluation, or an official determination of your child's educational rights.
Using the kit does not establish an attorney-client, clinician-patient, therapist-client, or other professional relationship.
For individual advice, consult an appropriately qualified professional. The independent parent-support organizations referenced elsewhere in the kit may also help families identify available resources.
3. Your Child's Educational Rights Do Not Depend on This Kit
Federal and Indiana laws may provide eligible students and families with protections involving evaluations, educational records, accommodations, special education services, parental participation, and dispute resolution.
Relevant laws may include:
- The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
- Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
- The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
- Indiana's Article 7 special education rules.
These laws have different purposes, eligibility requirements, procedures, and remedies.
Using this kit does not create, expand, eliminate, or waive any legal right.
You do not need to purchase or use this kit to request an evaluation, seek educational records, participate in an IEP meeting, raise concerns, or pursue any legally available remedy.
A school or public agency remains responsible for complying with applicable law regardless of whether a parent uses this resource.
Nothing in the kit should be understood as requiring a parent to resolve a dispute informally before pursuing an available legal procedure.
4. No Diagnosis or Formal Educational Assessment
The kit may contain observation checklists, learning activities, developmental questions, or informal home-review tools.
These materials are designed to help families document observations and communicate concerns.
They do not diagnose dyslexia, ADD or ADHD, dysgraphia, autism, intellectual disabilities, or any other learning, developmental, medical, or psychological condition.
Informal observations are not standardized assessments and cannot independently establish eligibility for special education or accommodations.
Likewise, informal results should not be used to rule out a possible disability or delay a request for an appropriate evaluation.
When concerns arise, families should consult qualified professionals or seek evaluation through appropriate educational procedures.
5. Facts, Observations, Opinions, and Allegations Must Remain Separate
This distinction is fundamental to the Education Vault approach.
A school email is evidence of what that email communicates.
A meeting recording may document what was said, subject to its completeness, authenticity, and applicable law.
A parent's recollection is an account of what the parent remembers.
An AI-generated summary is a secondary interpretation of whatever information was supplied to the AI.
These are not interchangeable forms of evidence.
When using the kit:
- Preserve original documents without altering their contents.
- Distinguish direct quotations from summaries or interpretations.
- Identify dates and sources whenever possible.
- Label personal recollections and unverified information accurately.
- Document unanswered questions without treating them as established violations.
- Preserve information that may contradict your initial understanding.
Never change a record, invent a quotation, or present an AI-generated reconstruction as an authentic original document.
The goal is an accurate record, not a predetermined conclusion.
6. AI Assistance: Never Confuse a Generated Answer With Evidence
The optional Records Assistant and other AI-related instructions can help organize information, generate questions, and prepare working summaries.
However, AI systems can make serious mistakes.
They can invent facts, combine unrelated events, misread legal requirements, omit important language, confuse dates, and generate nonexistent citations.
AI can also produce a confident answer when the available information does not support one.
Before relying on AI-generated material:
- Compare statements with the actual source documents.
- Verify quotations, dates, names, and citations.
- Separate documented facts from interpretations.
- Check legal references against current authoritative sources.
- Correct or remove unsupported statements before sharing the material.
If information is missing, the appropriate response is to identify what is missing, not manufacture an answer.
No AI output should be submitted as verified evidence merely because it appears professional or contains citations.
The Records Assistant does not replace an attorney, professional evaluator, or independent review of original evidence.
ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, and other third-party AI products are operated by their respective providers. Sprinklin' Light Worldwide LLC is not affiliated with or endorsed by those providers unless expressly stated otherwise.
Each provider maintains its own terms and privacy practices.
7. Protect Your Child Before Using AI
Educational records can contain highly sensitive personal information.
Before sending information to a third-party AI service, review the provider's current privacy terms and determine whether you have appropriate authority to share the information.
Consider removing or replacing:
- Your child's full legal name and birth date.
- Student identification numbers.
- Home addresses, telephone numbers, and personal email addresses.
- Social Security numbers and other government identifiers.
- Names and identifying information of other children.
- Unnecessary medical, psychological, or family information.
- School-specific details that could identify your child when combined with other information.
Removing names alone may not fully de-identify a document.
Do not assume that information submitted to an external AI provider remains private simply because it was entered into a personal account.
Do not upload another student's confidential records without appropriate authorization.
8. Digital Storage, Browser Data, and Backups
The Education Vault website's published privacy notice states that information entered into the online kit and Vault Writer is stored locally in the user's browser or device rather than transmitted to Sprinklin' Light Worldwide LLC.
The notice separately describes practices involving waitlists, access codes, purchases, and browser-based speech recognition.
Read the current full privacy notice:
https://educationvault.ai/privacy.html
Local browser storage should not be treated as a permanent or guaranteed archive.
Depending on how the application operates and how your device is configured, information may become inaccessible if browser data is cleared, the device is lost, the browser or profile changes, storage is corrupted, or another technical problem occurs.
Keep your own securely stored copies of important documents and completed work.
Do not rely exclusively on a browser session to preserve your child's educational history.
Use available export or download features, confirm that saved files open correctly, and maintain appropriate backups.
No digital product can guarantee protection against every possible technical failure, unauthorized access, or data loss.
9. Recording Meetings and Preserving Communications
This kit may discuss recording educational meetings and maintaining written records of conversations.
Recording rules depend on applicable federal and state laws, the circumstances of the communication, and potentially relevant institutional procedures.
Indiana law may permit certain recordings based on the consent of one participant, but that does not establish that every recording in every setting is lawful or free of other restrictions.
Before recording:
- Determine the applicable law and relevant circumstances.
- Review any school policies or procedures.
- Consider whether special privacy or confidentiality concerns apply.
- Preserve the original recording without alteration.
- Label any transcript or summary accurately.
A transcript prepared by a person or AI system may contain omissions or errors.
A transcript is not a substitute for its underlying recording.
Where a recording is used to support a disputed factual claim, the original should be preserved whenever lawfully possible.
Nothing in this kit authorizes unlawful recording, interception, distribution, or disclosure of private communications.
10. Official Records, Missing Documents, and Corrections
The kit can help identify records a family possesses and records that may be missing.
However, a missing document in a parent's collection does not automatically establish that the school failed to create or maintain it.
A blank field does not prove that a required service was never provided.
Likewise, a record stating that something occurred does not independently establish that every underlying obligation was satisfied.
Those distinctions may require additional records, clarification, or professional review.
When requesting or reviewing educational records, distinguish among:
Documented: Information directly supported by available evidence.
Reported: Information attributed to an identified person's statement or recollection.
Unverified: Information that has not been confirmed.
Disputed: Information about which there are conflicting accounts or records.
Missing: Information or documentation not currently available to the person completing the kit.
If a record appears inaccurate, available legal procedures may provide a way to request amendment or otherwise challenge or address the information, depending on the circumstances.
The kit does not itself change official school records.
11. Deadlines, Legal Procedures, and Time-Sensitive Rights
The kit may identify common educational timelines, procedural requirements, and deadlines.
These references are intended to help parents recognize issues requiring further attention.
They are not a complete or individualized calculation of legally enforceable deadlines.
Do not rely solely on a checklist, automated reminder, AI response, or sample timeline when a legal deadline may affect your rights.
Different procedures may have different deadlines, prerequisites, and exceptions.
Some deadlines may continue running while parents are attempting informal resolution.
Verify current requirements with official authorities or appropriately qualified professionals.
The kit is developed primarily for Indiana families. Other states may have materially different rules.
References reviewed in October 2026 reflect the research date stated in the kit, not a guarantee of continuing accuracy.
12. Homeschooling and School-Based Services Are Not Identical
The kits contain resources for homeschooling families as well as families whose children attend public or private schools.
However, legal obligations concerning evaluations, special education, services, placement, attendance, and curriculum may differ substantially depending on the educational setting.
Homeschooling does not automatically provide the same services or procedural arrangements as enrollment in a public school.
Likewise, the specific rights and obligations associated with private schooling or parentally placed students may differ.
Families should verify which requirements apply to their child's actual educational setting.
The kit does not certify homeschool compliance, establish eligibility for state programs, or guarantee access to particular educational services.
13. Real Experiences and Case Examples
Some examples are drawn from real educational experiences, including the founder's experiences as a parent.
Where examples are identified as originating from "the Indiana case behind this kit," identifying details have been removed or modified to protect privacy.
Such examples are provided to illustrate documentation methods, questions, communication challenges, or educational processes.
They should not be interpreted as judicial findings, agency determinations, or independently verified conclusions unless the specific supporting record establishes that status.
A family's disagreement with an educational institution does not, by itself, establish wrongdoing.
Likewise, a case example does not establish that another family's experience is legally or factually equivalent.
Users should apply the kit to their own documented circumstances rather than assuming that an example predicts their outcome.
14. Independent Organizations and Historical References
The kit may identify government agencies, parent-support programs, educational organizations, instructional approaches, or outside resources.
These references are provided to help families locate information and assistance.
Sprinklin' Light Worldwide LLC is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Indiana Department of Education, any school district, or other referenced organization unless expressly stated.
The founder's mother, Julia Richter, helped establish the Dyslexia Institute of Indiana in 1989.
That historical connection is part of the founder's personal story.
This kit is independently developed and is not a product of, endorsed by, or officially affiliated with the Dyslexia Institute of Indiana.
References to historical organizations do not imply current partnerships or institutional approval.
15. No Guaranteed Outcomes
The kits may help parents improve the organization and accessibility of their educational information.
However, Sprinklin' Light Worldwide LLC does not guarantee:
- Improved educational performance.
- Eligibility for a particular educational program or service.
- Approval of a requested accommodation or IEP change.
- Agreement from a school, district, or educational agency.
- A particular administrative or legal outcome.
- Resolution of a dispute.
- Specific results from third-party technology.
Every child's needs and educational circumstances are different.
The value of the kit lies in providing organizational tools and information, not in promising results outside the company's control.
16. Responsibility, Liability, and Consumer Protections
Users are responsible for independently reviewing information before making decisions affecting their child.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Sprinklin' Light Worldwide LLC disclaims responsibility for outcomes resulting solely from a user's independent decisions, inaccurate user-supplied information, or reliance on unverified third-party content.
The kit is provided as an educational and organizational resource, without any guarantee of a specific educational, legal, or administrative outcome.
Nothing in these disclosures excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or waives nonwaivable rights under applicable consumer protection or other laws.
Any applicable limitations of liability are subject to governing law and the specific circumstances.
17. Personal Use and Intellectual Property
Each kit is licensed for personal, noncommercial family use.
Authorized purchasers may print and complete worksheets as reasonably needed for their household and share completed pages with their child's educational team, attorneys, qualified professionals, or relevant agencies for legitimate educational or advocacy purposes.
Purchasing the kit does not transfer ownership of its original copyrighted content, illustrations, designs, branding, or other protected intellectual property.
Users may not resell, commercially redistribute, publicly upload, or represent the unmodified kit as their own product without written authorization.
Nothing in this restriction prevents users from sharing their own educational records, original entries, or completed materials as reasonably necessary to exercise their legal rights.
18. The Education Vault: A Growing Vision
The kits represent an initial product within the broader Sprinklin' Education initiative.
The long-term Education Vault vision includes more advanced tools for maintaining, organizing, and understanding educational information.
Features described as future plans are not guaranteed to become available.
The purchase of a kit does not automatically include access to future services or subscriptions unless expressly offered as part of the purchase.
New features, services, prices, or terms may be introduced separately.
19. Important Final Reminder
The most powerful record is not the one that makes the strongest accusation. It is the one that accurately shows what happened, what is documented, what remains unanswered, and what needs to happen next.
Preserve your records.
Ask informed questions.
Respect the difference between evidence and interpretation.
Verify important information.
Protect your child's privacy.
And remember that your child's educational story is about far more than a file, a diagnosis, or a test score.
Your child deserves to be understood as a whole person.
That principle is at the heart of Sprinklin' Education.
